DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the Guam Congressional Office here in Washington\, D.C. and with the Honorable James C. Moylan\, the Guam Congressional Delegate\, we are honored to share the following information provided by the Congressional Office for this year’s annual Wreath Laying Ceremony. \nThe Congressional Office returns the Wreath Laying Ceremony to Arlington National Cemetery at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Liberation of Guam. \nDetails for the event are as follows: \nDATE:  Wednesday\, July 9\, 2025 \nTIME:  Arrival Time:  8:30AM / Ceremony:  9:15AM \nLOCATION:  Tomb of the Unknown Soldier\, Arlington National Cemetery\, \nArlington\, Virginia \nATTIRE:  Business Casual \nIf you are planning to attend this ceremony\, escorts coordinated by the Guam Congressional Office will be at the entrance\, but you will need to provide the following vehicle information for vehicle access for the event by 9:00 AM\, Thursday\, July 3\, 2025:  Make\, Model\, Year and License Plate.   Please send this information directly to Arvin Salonga at Arvin.Salonga@mail.house.gov. \nIf the information is not provided and not on the access list\, you may not be able to enter/drive to the location – please send this information as soon as possible but by the deadline shown above.

SUMMARY:Guam Society Annual Liberation Day Picnic/Fiesta
DESCRIPTION:It’s here!  In just a few hours the Guam Society will be celebrating the 81st Liberation of Guam at our Liberation Picnic – the response has been overwhelming as we are looking forward to a great celebration and gathering. \nReminder that the picnic will be held at: \nFort Hunt Park (Area A)\, 8999 Fort Hunt Road \nAlexandria\, VA 22308 \nParking:  We have the parking for both Areas A and B for the picnic.  Please look for the signs and we ask that you DO NOT park on the grass at the park.  Park Rangers will be roaming the area and will give us warnings\, but vehicles will eventually be towed at the owner’s expense.  Please help us to ensure we don’t have any issues regarding parking.  This is a great venue/location\, and we look to come back here in future years to come.  \nThere are still sign-ups available for potluck food items\, set up\, decor\, and clean up volunteers can be made at:   2025 Liberation Picnic Fiesta Sign Up    We would definitely appreciate your help with set up and most especially the clean up – even if its just helping to pick or load items as we wind down the picnic.  \n\nIn addition to potluck food items\, we ask that you bring a donation of a case of water (any size) and/or a 12 or 24 pack of soda (canned).\nIf you are bringing meat items for the BBQ\, please drop off at the site not later than 10:30AM – the Grill/BBQ Crew will be there to receive them.  We ask that these items be defrosted and/or marinated.\nWe will not have any frying or stove cooking options available for this year’s event.\nThe grill will shut down at 2pm.\n\nIf you have family and friends who are visiting from outside the Washington Metro area and/or would prefer to support the event with a monetary donation\, the Society appreciates any contributions to make this another successful event. Donations can be made at: 2025 Guam Society Liberation Picnic Donation \nWe’ll have music (provided by DJ 911 – Frank Topasna)\, dancing\, games for the kids\, and more.  The 2025 Guam Society Scholarship Award recipients will also be announced.    \nWe ask that you reply to the event chairperson on the fiesta sign up link above with confirmation of your attendance and number of people in your group – this is simply to ensure we prepare enough food for the event.  The event is open to all in the Washington DC Metro area and any family and friends who may visiting from out of the area.
